How Does it work?

  • BEFORE YOU COME IN & WHEN YOU ARRIVE

    1. Prepare

    Ensure all items are freshly washed, folded, and ready for assessment. Review the Selling Guide on our website to confirm which items we accept.

    2. Arrival

    Check in with our staff on arrival and complete a brief online form. We'll do a quick, on-the-spot sort to identify the items we'd like to purchase - this usually only takes 5-10 minutes.

    3. Drop-Off

    Leave your items with our team for a thorough assessment, this may take a couple of hours. Please allow extra time for large quantities and/or luxury/designer items.

    4. Quote

    Once we've finished, you'll receive an SMS with your quote. Review it remotely from your phone, or pop back into the store to talk it through with our staff - You’re always welcome to decline our offer and keep your items.

    4. Unselected Items

    For any items we don't choose to purchase, you can return to the store to collect them, or let us know and we'll donate, recycle or otherwise handle them on your behalf.

    5. Get Paid

    Once you’re happy with your quote choose between 50% store credit or 30% cash based on our estimated resale value of your items (excluding GST).

    Choose either direct bank transfer or physical cash in-store.

    Store Credit

    We’ll automatically apply it to your customer account, usable in-store and online.

    1) Who you are and what you promise

    By submitting items (“Items”) to Garmes (“we/us”), you (“you/seller”) confirm that:

    • The Items are authentic and not counterfeit, stolen, or prohibited.
    • The contact details you provide are accurate and you consent to us contacting you by SMS/email for this transaction.

    2) Intake

    • We do a detailed assessment and set a resale price for each Item (what we would price it at in our store/online).
    • Your payout choices on accepted Items are:
    • Cash: 30% of our assessed resale price; or
    • Store Credit: 50% of our assessed resale price (issued as store credit/gift card tied to your customer account; see Clause 5).
    • We will notify you by SMS/email when your Quote is ready. Quotes are valid for 2 days from notification.
    • We authenticate and grade condition. We may adjust or withdraw a quote if authenticity/condition differs from initial assessment.

    3) Our right to accept, adjust or reject

    We may reject any Item at our discretion (e.g., condition, brand, demand, authenticity). For accepted Items, our pricing is based on our expertise and current demand; it is not negotiable once set in the Quote unless re-inspection changes the result.

    4) Title transfer

    • Title to accepted Items passes to us when your payout is completed (cash/bank/store credit). Until then, Items remain yours.

    5) Store credit specifics

    • Store credit is issued to your customer account (or as a gift card if we choose). You may need to create or log in to an account to use it.
    • Store credit is not redeemable for cash, not transferable, and may be used only for purchases with us (including POS).
    • Expiry and usage follow our store-credit/gift-card policy and applicable laws. Where required by law, credit/gift cards will not expire for at least the minimum period required.
    • If we later determine an Item was counterfeit or not as represented, we may reverse or adjust store credit and/or request return of goods purchased with that credit to the extent permitted by law.

    6) Payment timing & methods

    • Cash: paid in-store at time of acceptance.
    • Bank/PayID: we aim to process within 1 business days after acceptance (bank delays may apply).
    • Store credit: issued once acceptance is confirmed; available to use once it appears on your account/gift card.

    7) Communication & authorisation

    You authorise us to contact you by SMS/email for updates, quotes, and payment confirmations for this transaction. (Marketing messages are optional and require a separate consent.)

    8) Acceptance in person & uncollected items

    • You must return to our store within 48 hours of our notification to accept or reject your quote in person.
    • If you do not attend within 48 hours, we will treat the items as uncollected and may, at our discretion, donate, recycle, resell, or otherwise dispose of the items to recover handling/storage costs. We are not liable for any loss you may suffer as a result. (Local laws may limit disposal rights; see our staff for details.)

    9) Risk of loss; care of Items

    We will take reasonable care of Items left with us. However, until title passes (see Clause 4), Items are left at your risk. To the extent permitted by law, our liability for loss/damage while in our custody is limited to the offered payout amount for the affected Items.

    10) Counterfeit, fraud & misrepresentation

    If we reasonably believe an Item is counterfeit, stolen, or misrepresented, we may refuse/withdraw an offer, report the matter, and retain the Item for law enforcement as required. If a counterfeit is discovered after payout, you agree to refund the payout on request (or allow us to offset against any store credit) and to cooperate with lawful investigations.

    11) Returns & Finality

    All purchases from you are final. Once paid (or credit issued) and title has passed, Items are not returnable to you.

    12) Privacy

    We collect and use your personal information to assess Items, communicate quotes, process payouts, prevent fraud, and meet legal obligations. We may verify your identity and record serial numbers/unique identifiers. Our handling of your data is subject to our Privacy Policy available on our website. We do not use your details for marketing unless you separately consent.

    13) Governing law

    These T&Cs are governed by the laws of ACT. Any disputes will be resolved in that jurisdiction’s courts.

    14) Acceptance

    By submitting this form you agree to these T&Cs and confirm you are the lawful owner of the Items.

  • No, just walk in during store hours and our staff will sort you out!

  • 50% Store Credit or 30% Cash of item resale price.

  • Please don’t take it personally if we don't make an offer on your items. We have strict criteria and make decisions based on:

    • What's needed in store
    • What we know sells

    Reasons for not receiving an offer might include:

    • Currently overstocked in store
    • The item is damaged or stained
    • Not the right style for our store

  • Usally takes 1-2 hours, timing varies with volume and category; but may take up to 24 hours, we’ll text you when your offer is ready.

    To avoid longer wait-times we recommend visiting us Monday-Friday before 12pm. Please note, weekends are our busiest periods so expect longer wait times.

  • Your store credit is tied to a customer account, which we create automatically using the email you provided. Here's how to use it:

    In store - Give our staff your name or email at the counter and we'll apply your credit to your order.

    Online - Log in with that same email and select "Apply store credit" at checkout. No password needed - we'll email you a one-time code to log in.

    Checking your balance - Log in on our website, go to Profile, and your balance will show under Payment methods.
